“Born Dead With Life” released in 2008 by Irievibrations Records: a concept
album combining exclusive and entirely new rhythms and tunes with very
personal and profound lyrics concerning black history, self-awareness and the
sufferings of the black nation.
This album was exclusively produced by
Irievibrations Records and features their trademark sound as known from
Riddim selections like Lovebird, Caribbean, Hit Drop and Work Off.
The
concept behind this collaboration is “one artist, one sound, one message”.
The new and fresh sound of Riddims – combined with Perfect’s outstanding
skills as a lyricist – produced compositions like “30 pieces” and “Rasta
Dubplate” even before the album Airplay was released on Irie FM and BBC
1xtra.
The musical style of “Born Dead with Life” varies from mellow roots
reggae tunes and up-tempo new roots tunes to hip hop style songs, making
the listener laugh, cry, chill or bounce in turns. Enriched by contributing artists
like Chezidek, Empress or Gyptian & Turbulence, “Born Dead With Life” is a
milestone in Perfect’s impressive career.
The cover of this album has been designed by Franke, a well known artist and
illustrator: a handmade painting with scenes of black history and
demonstrations of slavery that harmonize with the spirit, lyrics and sound of
the production.
